The prices of Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) are now quickly searched on Twitter by entering their names or tickers.

On December 21st, Twitter’s Business account introduced a new feature that improved the previous “$Cashtags” system.

If a significant stock, ETF, or cryptocurrency symbol is tweeted with a dollar sign in front of it, a link would appear in the search results that lead to a page with a graph showing the current price of the symbol.

All you have to do to get the price chart is type in the ticker symbol, whether for stock or cryptocurrency. Elon Musk, Twitter’s CEO, shared the news of the new function on December 22nd and called it one of many product upgrades coming to financial Twitter.

Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) are the only two cryptocurrencies for which price charts are available. Some of the most popular cryptocurrencies, including Musk’s favorite, Dogecoin, did not make the cut.

Twitter Business, however, has stated that it plans to enhance the user experience and increase the symbols it covers in the coming weeks.

Now searches for “Bitcoin,” “Bitcoin price,” and “BTC price” all return the same price chart, and similar searches for Ethereum get the same results.

On December 21st, tech writer and Twitter user Jane Mastodon Wong informed her 158,700 followers that the charts were obtained from TradingView. This service provides traders with data and analysis on the stock market.

There is a “View on Robinhood” link in the lower-left corner of the price charts, yet Twitter and Robinhood haven’t revealed the specifics of their cooperation. When you click that, you’ll be sent to Robinhood’s ETH price chart, which includes a “Sign Up to Buy Ethereum” button below. Bitcoin users have access to the same resources.

Data from BitInfoCharts shows that mentions of #Bitcoin are tweeted over 120,000 times per day, suggesting that integrating price charts into Twitter may drive additional visitors to Robinhood.

In contrast, the price of #Ethereum has been stable around the $25,000 mark.

Earlier this month, speculation arose that Twitter will launch its cryptocurrency called “Twitter Coin” to be used only for making purchases on the site. On December 4th, around a week after Musk gave a sneak peek at what “Twitter 2.0” would look like, including the potential integration of cryptocurrency-based payments on Twitter, speculations began circulating that Twitter might soon adopt the practice.

However, Musk’s future at Twitter looks to be at a crossroads after the divisive figure asked Twitter users on December 19th if he should step down as CEO of Twitter. 57.5%of the 17,502,391 respondents agreed, suggesting that Musk’s future at Twitter is uncertain.
