Barkley isn’t the first athlete to go the Bitcoin route; crypto-mania has been spreading all over the sports world. Kansas City Chiefs player Sean Culkin announced this year that he is taking his entire base salary for 2021 in BTC. American football quarterback Trevor Lawrence signed a deal with crypto exchange FTX in April and received his first payment exclusively in crypto. The Sacramento Kings also announced that they are planning to offer a Bitcoin payment option to all of its players and staff while American professional baseball team Oakland A’s are adopting crypto as payment on fans’ demand.
