Near Protocol (NEAR) Adds 270% in Futures Funding: Can It Affect Price?

Near Protocol ($NEAR) is seeing a significant shift in derivatives market activity, with futures trading volumes rising and capital flows increasing. Even though the cryptocurrency has had a recent price correction, growing speculative interest suggests that volatility could rise significantly in the coming sessions.
With $NEAR trading around $4.31, derivatives data shows a complicated picture: bullish positioning, higher trading activity, and selling pressure that continues.
$NEAR Futures Activity Rises
According to CoinGlass data, $NEAR's 24-hour futures trading volume has reached about $2.88 billion, while spot volume is at $569.46 million.

Several major exchanges have recorded large increases in futures activity. Binance reported a 78.44% volume increase, while OKX registered an 83.53% gain. BingX experienced an even bigger surge of 98.01%.
$NEAR/USDT Chart by TradingView
Meanwhile, Binance's top trader long/short position ratio stands at 1.7808, which suggests that larger market participants still have a bullish bias.
$NEAR's derivatives flows pushing the market uncertainty further. Over the past eight hours, futures outflows were higher than inflows by about $5.86 million. The four-hour period recorded another $5.82 million in net outflows.
Interestingly, spot markets show a different picture. Eight-hour spot inflows were higher than outflows by $13.16 million, while the 12-hour period registered positive net flows of $18.50 million.
This divergence suggests that spot buying interest is still present despite pressure in leveraged markets.
Can $NEAR Recover Toward $5?
$NEAR's daily chart shows a sharp correction after its October rally toward $6.
The cryptocurrency has fallen below several short-term moving averages, while its Relative Strength Index has weakened toward the lower half of its range.
The closest support for now sits around $4.00, followed by the $3.60 region, where a longer-term moving average could provide additional support.
Reclaiming $4.50–$4.80 would strengthen the case for renewed bullish trend.
Ultimately, increased derivatives activity could amplify $NEAR's next major move, but it does not guarantee a price recovery. Sustained spot demand and improving technical momentum will be essential for a convincing bullish reversal.
