$XRP remains under pressure on Thursday as buyers struggled to build on their recent recovery attempts.
$XRP is trading around $1.34, below a cluster of key moving averages. Mixed derivatives positioning and subdued momentum suggest traders remain cautious about a sustained rebound.
The asset is facing selling pressure in its futures markets, although positive funding rates indicate that some participants continue to position for higher prices.

Derivatives positioning shows conflicting signals
CoinGlass data showed $XRP’s long-to-short ratio at 0.86 on Thursday, approaching its lowest level in more than a month.
Ratios below one indicate a greater share of short positioning within the measured accounts, suggesting a bearish tilt. $XRP’s lower reading points to a more pronounced imbalance, with sellers starting to dominate the market.
Funding rates, however, tell a different story. $XRP’s funding rate turned positive on Monday and reached 0.0064% on Thursday.
Positive funding means traders holding long perpetual futures positions are paying those holding shorts. That reflects continued demand for bullish exposure, even as the long-to-short ratios lean bearish.
The divergence leaves positioning mixed and offers limited confirmation that either token’s recovery has established a stronger footing.
CryptoQuant’s market summary also highlighted conditions that could constrain a rebound.
For $XRP, CryptoQuant identified large whale orders and heating conditions across spot and futures markets, alongside sell-side dominance in futures trading.
Large orders alone do not establish market direction, but their presence alongside stronger selling activity adds to the cautious outlook.
The readings suggest buyers have yet to gain clear control of trading activity across either asset.
$XRP technical outlook: $XRP faces tight resistance near $1.375
$XRP’s daily and 4-hour charts retain a bearish near-term bias, with price holding below the 200-day Exponential Moving Average at $1.374 and the 50-day EMA at $1.375.
These closely aligned averages form the first resistance zone that buyers need to reclaim to improve the technical outlook.
Technical momentum for $XRP remains soft. The Relative Strength Index sits near 44, below the neutral 50 level, while the Moving Average Convergence Divergence remains marginally negative.
A sustained move above $1.374–$1.375 would ease immediate pressure and bring the horizontal resistance at $1.540 into focus. The more distant barrier near $1.900 would become relevant if a broader recovery develops.
On the downside, $XRP continues to hold above its 100-day EMA at $1.337, providing an initial cushion beneath the current price.
A break below that average would shift attention toward the $1.300 horizontal support. A daily close beneath $1.300 would weaken the stabilization attempt and increase the risk of further losses towards the swing low of $1.25.
For now, $XRP remains caught between nearby support and tightly grouped resistance, while Stellar’s mixed derivatives readings offer similarly limited evidence of a decisive turnaround.
