$SUI gained about 54% over four weeks through Oct. 10, far outpacing bitcoin and ether, even as the token pulled back over the latest week. The rally coincided with growth in Sui’s DeFi liquidity, though that expansion was smaller than the price increase.

The token traded at about $1.11 at 6:50 p.m. ET, up from $0.7218 at 6 p.m. ET on Sept. 12, according to CoinGecko. The Defiant’s calculation using the same starting time and synchronized latest quotes puts bitcoin’s gain at 7.3% and ether’s decline at 0.8% over the approximately 28-day window.

For traders assessing whether the rally extended beyond the token, DefiLlama’s Sui data show dollar-denominated total value locked in DeFi rising from $458.2 million to $529.1 million, or about 15.5%. Dollar-pegged stablecoins on the network grew from $473.5 million to $500.9 million, about 5.8%, in its Sept. 12 and Oct. 10 daily snapshots. Those liquidity measures rose alongside $SUI, but do not establish what drove its price.

$SUI’s Rally Included Sharp Reversals

The four-week return masks reversals. CoinGecko’s sampled history recorded $SUI at roughly $1.27 on Sept. 27 and about $1.03 on Oct. 8, before its recovery to around $1.11. Its latest seven-day change was a decline of about 5.2%.

The latest daily advance also came amid wider gains. In a 45-token non-stablecoin watchlist tracked by The Defiant, 41 rose and four fell over CoinGecko’s 24-hour window at 6:52 p.m. ET. $SUI gained 3.8% in that snapshot. This is a one-day breadth measure for a selected group, not a four-week return or a census of the crypto market.

Liquidity Rises, Trading Cools From September Burst

The DeFi figures measure different things. TVL values assets held in protocols in dollars, so rising token prices can lift it without new deposits. The stablecoin series measures the dollar value of circulating dollar-pegged tokens, rather than trading activity. Both comparisons use DefiLlama’s midnight-UTC snapshots, earlier than the evening price observations.

Decentralized-exchange volume also fluctuated. DefiLlama recorded $114.8 million of trading on Sept. 21, compared with $34.4 million on Oct. 9, the latest completed UTC day. The token’s four-week gain therefore did not coincide with uninterrupted growth in daily trading.

One development during the period was Samsung Wallet’s planned support for $USDC on Sui, which The Defiant previously reported. But that expands access to the network’s stablecoin infrastructure rather than directly requiring users to buy its token: the Sui Foundation says Samsung Wallet will not support $SUI at launch, and users will not need to hold it to send $USDC.
