$LINK News: Chainlink Launches Fulcrum for Institutional Financing

Chainlink launched Fulcrum on September 30, a tool that lets banks and other large institutions borrow and lend against tokenized assets across different blockchains. The deals are repos, short-term loans in which one side hands over collateral for cash and buys it back days later, and Chainlink says Fulcrum is the first to manage the agreement on one network while cash and collateral settle on others.

Chainlink frames the problem as idle assets, citing a Citi estimate that about a quarter of institutional collateral goes unused because of settlement cutoffs, costing the average Tier 1 firm roughly $346 million a year in lost revenue. Fulcrum, which the company calls “a global financing layer for the entire financial ecosystem,” is meant to keep that collateral working around the clock, weekends included.

Adoption is still at an early stage, with Chainlink connecting the tool to traditional finance venues that launch soon and listing a DTCC demonstration at Sibos 2026, though the post gives no further detail. Because the announcement says nothing about demand for $LINK, it reads as a product milestone more than a price catalyst.

Chainlink said on X that Open Standard has made it an official data oracle for Open USD (OUSD), a stablecoin that went live with integration paths through Coinbase, Mastercard, Stripe and Visa. Each path offers free 1:1 dollar minting and burning, and Coinbase’s path opens October 1.

OUSD is issued by Bridge, a Stripe company, runs on Base, Ethereum, Solana and Tempo, and keeps its reserves at BlackRock, Lead Bank and BNY. Open Standard counts more than 200 financial and business partners. Neither post says what data Chainlink will supply or what it earns for doing so.

Chainlink Price Prediction for October 2026: Week-by-Week Outlook

Period Expected Range Key Levels
Oct 1 to 7 $13.25 to $15 $LINK needs to retake the trendline near $14.30, with $13.98 and $13.25 holding on dips.
Oct 8 to 14 $13.25 to $15.75 A close above $15 puts the spike high in range, while losing $13.25 brings in $11.95.
Oct 15 to 21 $11.95 to $16 $15.75 caps a move higher, with the 50-day EMA at $11.95 as the floor if $13.25 fails.
Oct 22 to 31 $11.95 to $16.50 The October 28 Fed decision sets the tone, with a break above $15.75 opening $16.50.

Chainlink Price Prediction: Bullish and Bearish Scenarios for October

Bullish Case, Target: $15.75

$LINK holds the 20-day EMA at $13.25, retakes the trendline near $14.30 and closes a day above $15. That puts the late-September high near $15.75 in range, with Fulcrum and the OUSD oracle role adding to the institutional news flow.

Bearish Case, Risk Level: $11.95 (50-Day EMA)

$LINK loses the SAR at $13.98 and the 20-day EMA at $13.25, which would turn the trendline break into a failed one. A daily close below the 50-day EMA at $11.95 would expose the 100-day EMA at $10.84.

Chainlink Price Prediction FAQs

What is the Chainlink price prediction for October 2026?

$LINK could extend toward $15 and then $15.75 in October if it holds above $13.25 and retakes the trendline near $14.30. A daily close below the 50-day EMA at $11.95 would put the 100-day EMA at $10.84 in play.

Will Chainlink reach $20 in October?

It is unlikely from the current setup. $20 would need a gain of about 41% from $14.15, and $LINK would first have to clear $15.75, the highest price on a chart that starts in May.

Could Chainlink fall below $12 in October?

Yes, if it loses $13.25 and the trendline break fails. $12 is a drop of about 15% from $14.15, with the 50-day EMA at $11.95 sitting just below it and the 100-day EMA at $10.84 next.

What is Chainlink Fulcrum, and does it affect $LINK’s price?

Fulcrum is a Chainlink tool announced September 30 that lets institutions run repo-style loans against tokenized collateral across different blockchains. Chainlink’s announcement does not say how it would affect demand for $LINK, and price has pulled back since it launched.
