Certain Altcoins Have Seen a Rise Recently, and They Share a Common Trait

The altcoin market has recently experienced a remarkable rotation. CoinMarketCap’s (CMC) Quarterly Altcoin Index rose to 64, indicating a shift in investor interest from speculative trading to projects that can generate income and have real use cases.

Over the past 30 days, some altcoins have seen strong gains. PONS has risen by over 350%, $UNI by more than 110%, $ARB by more than 150%, and NEAR by approximately 180%. ZEC also briefly climbed above $1,600 last week.

According to CoinMarketCap data, the Altcoin Quarterly Index rose from 48 last week to 64. However, the index is still below the 75-point threshold used to confirm what is defined as an “altcoin quarter.”

Talos data indicates increased concentration in the altcoin market. The share of the top 10 altcoins by market capitalization in the total altcoin market capitalization has risen to approximately 80 percent. This rate was around 70 percent at the end of 2024.

Bankless host David Hoffman noted that tokens like $ARB, $UNI, JUP, and ONDO, which have shown strong performance recently, share the common characteristic of being able to generate income.

Samar Sen, Head of Talos International Markets, stated that current capital flows are primarily concentrated in yield-generating protocols, on-chain perpetual futures platforms, and DeFi projects. According to Sen, privacy, artificial intelligence, tokenized assets, and meme tokens are also among the themes attracting investor interest.
