Monero is gaining momentum as its price approaches a critical resistance zone near $404.39. $XMR trades around $402.95 after rising 1.17% over the past 24 hours. The token has also gained 10.32% during the past seven days. Its market capitalization now stands near $7.57 billion.

$XMR Targets Key Resistance

$XMR maintains a strong bullish structure on the four-hour chart. The price remains above the 20, 50, 100, and 200 EMAs. These averages sit at $392.46, $383.67, $372.88, and $360.18.

This alignment continues to support the broader upward trend. Additionally, $XMR recently reclaimed the $400 psychological level. The price now faces immediate resistance around $404.39.

A sustained breakout could push $XMR toward $410. The next major upside target stands near $413.55. However, the Stochastic RSI sits at 81.24, indicating overbought conditions.

Hence, buyers could face a temporary cooling period before attempting another breakout. A rejection near $404.39 could send $XMR toward $397 and $392.46.

Derivatives Activity Signals Higher Risk

Monero’s open interest has experienced sharp swings alongside major price movements. OI climbed from below $100 million to nearly $280 million in January.

That surge reflected aggressive derivatives positioning and stronger speculative activity. However, open interest later dropped sharply as traders closed positions and leverage declined.

The metric subsequently recovered through several volatile periods. More recently, OI approached $190 million before retreating.

As of August 13, open interest stands near $177.99 million. $XMR trades around $392.83 based on the latest OI reading.

Elevated OI shows that traders remain active in the derivatives market. Nevertheless, heavy positioning can increase liquidation risks during sudden price reversals.

Exchange Flows Add a Caution Signal

Spot exchange flows remain mixed despite $XMR’s recent price strength. Several large outflow periods appeared during earlier market declines.

Those movements may have reduced immediate selling pressure. However, inflows strengthened between late May and mid-July.

Multiple positive netflow spikes indicated increased $XMR deposits on exchanges. Consequently, traders should monitor whether those deposits translate into additional selling pressure.

The latest reading shows a positive netflow near $1.06 million. That figure suggests renewed exchange activity as $XMR trades around $404.30.

FCMP++ Upgrade Moves Forward

Meanwhile, Monero’s FCMP++ upgrade has reached another development milestone. The project has prepared stressnet v3 for further testing.

FCMP++ aims to replace Monero’s traditional ring-signature approach. The new system allows transaction inputs to prove membership across the entire unspent output set.

The FCMP++ upgrade for Monero ($XMR) is going forward, with a new stressnet v3 ready to go.

This approach differs from Monero’s existing reliance on smaller groups of decoys. Significantly, the change could strengthen transaction privacy while reshaping Monero’s underlying privacy model.

Technical Outlook For Monero

Key levels remain well-defined as Monero tests the $404.39 resistance zone:

Upside levels: $404.39, $410.00, and $413.55 as immediate hurdles. A decisive breakout could strengthen the bullish move and open the path toward higher levels.

Downside levels: $397.00–$392.46 as immediate support, followed by $383.67–$383.20 and $373.82–$372.88.

Major trend support: $360.18, where the 200 EMA could help preserve the broader bullish structure.

The technical picture remains bullish, with $XMR trading above all major EMAs. However, the Stochastic RSI at 81.24 signals overbought conditions, raising the possibility of a short-term pullback. Elevated open interest and renewed exchange inflows could also increase volatility.

Will Monero Go Up?

Monero’s next move hinges on whether buyers can sustain momentum above $400 and challenge $404.39. A breakout could push $XMR toward $410 and $413.55. However, rejection could trigger a pullback toward $392.46 and potentially $383.20.

Meanwhile, the advancing FCMP++ upgrade could strengthen Monero’s long-term privacy narrative. For now, $XMR remains at a pivotal technical zone, with breakout confirmation likely to determine its next major direction.
