Pi Network has started rolling out Protocol 26, requiring all Mainnet node operators to upgrade their software before August 11. The update is mandatory for node operators and is the final step before Protocol 27, the last planned upgrade in Pi Network’s current roadmap.
Pi Coin price surged 4.11% in the past 24 hours to $0.0825, outperforming the broader crypto market even as Bitcoin traded slightly lower.
Why Pi Network is Up Today?
Pi Coin gained 4.11% over the last 24 hours, trading at $0.0825, while Bitcoin slipped slightly during the same period. There was no major Pi Network announcement or market event linked directly to the price increase. The move appears to be driven by organic buying and accumulation, rather than a specific catalyst. Trading activity also increased, suggesting growing market participation.
Pi Network Starts Protocol 26 Upgrade
The Pi Core Team said all Mainnet node operators must install the Protocol 26 update before August 11. Nodes that are not upgraded by the deadline will be disconnected from the Pi Mainnet.
Protocol 26 is the ninth Mainnet protocol upgrade. The team said it prepares the network for Protocol 27, which is expected to be the final planned upgrade in the current roadmap. The update only affects Mainnet node operators. Regular Pi mobile users do not need to take any action.
According to the Pi Core Team, the final two upgrades will bring the network up to date with the latest protocol features, performance improvements, and functionality.
Pi Network Launches SLICE Test to Strengthen DeFi Ecosystem
Pi Network also highlighted its SLICE liquidity model as part of its growing DeFi ecosystem. The Pi Core Team distributed 10 million SLICE test tokens to 242,000 participating Pioneers, with users committing 15.92 million Test Pi to the launch.
The SLICE test uses an automated market maker (AMM) alongside the Pi DEX order book, where swaps are priced based on the assets held in the liquidity pool.
For the test launch, the pool contains SLICE and Test Pi, allowing Pi Network to simulate liquidity, automated price discovery, and decentralized trading. According to the team, the model is designed to provide liquidity from day one while helping users understand how DeFi liquidity pools and AMMs work in a mobile-first environment.

Pi Coin is trading near important support and resistance levels, with analysts watching for confirmation of its next move.PI has formed a double-top pattern after failing twice to break resistance. A break below the neckline could trigger another move lower.
Others note that PI has formed a higher low at $0.073, compared with its previous low of $0.0707. They believe this could develop into a double-bottom pattern, which would be confirmed if the price closes above $0.1023.
Key Levels to Watch
In the short term, $0.078 remains the key support level.
- If PI holds above $0.078, it could retest the $0.085 resistance level.
- A successful breakout above $0.085 could open the way towards $0.095.
- If the price falls below $0.078, it could resume its recent downtrend and revisit the $0.075 area, with the all-time low near $0.070 remaining the next major support.
With the August 11 Protocol 26 deadline approaching and Protocol 27 next in the roadmap, traders will be watching both the network’s technical progress and whether Pi Coin can maintain its recent momentum.
