According to data from the cryptocurrency prediction platform Polymarket, the probability of Ethereum losing its position as the “second largest cryptocurrency” by 2026 has reached 60%.

According to the relevant market prediction on the platform, this scenario would be considered to have occurred if $ETH were to lose its second or first place ranking by market capitalization at any point between January 1 and December 31, 2026.

The data used for this estimate comes from CoinGecko, and currently Ethereum’s market capitalization is approximately $247.9 billion. Following $ETH is Tether with a market capitalization of approximately $184 billion, while other major crypto assets like BNB and XRP also rank highly.
