In mid-August, bitcoin’s price dipped below $60,000, hitting a low of $56,646 per BTC on Thursday. Currently, BTC is hovering just above $58K, sitting at $58,267, which is about 20.2% lower than its all-time high (ATH) of $73,737 reached on March 14. While BTC has seen a 20.2% drop from its ATH, several other leading digital assets still have some ground to cover before they reach their previous peaks.
Down From the Peaks—A Look at Crypto’s Top 10
The crypto markets have certainly seen better days, with the entire crypto-economy now hovering just above the $2 trillion mark. While many in the market still hold onto the belief that we’re in a bull phase, a good number of crypto assets have a steep climb ahead to reach their all-time price highs. Bitcoin (BTC), down 20.2%, is one of the few digital assets that managed to surpass its ATH this year, while others are still chasing the peaks of their 2021 bull run.
Take ethereum (ETH), for example, currently trading at $2,602 per coin. At this price, ETH is down 45.7% from its ATH of $4,878 recorded on Nov. 10, 2021. Binance coin (BNB) is exchanging hands for $519 per coin and did manage to hit a new ATH in 2024. BNB climbed to $717 on June 6, but today it’s 26.5% below that peak. Solana (SOL) is priced at $141 per coin and has seen significant gains this year.
However, SOL still needs to rise by 45% to reach its ATH of $259, recorded on Nov. 6, 2021. XRP’s last ATH is even further back, when it traded for $3.40 on Jan. 7, 2018. Currently, XRP is trading at $0.56 per coin, sitting 79.7% below its all-time high. Toncoin (TON) did hit a price peak this year, reaching $8.25 per unit on June 15. Now, at $6.45 per TON, it’s 21.3% lower than that high. Dogecoin (DOGE) is trading at $0.10 per DOGE and hasn’t seen an ATH since 2021.
On May 8, 2021, the meme coin DOGE hit $0.73 per unit, but today it’s more than 85.1% below that peak. Cardano (ADA) also reached its ATH on Sept. 2, 2021, trading at $3.09 per coin at the time. Now, at $0.33 per ADA, cardano has fallen 89% since that peak nearly three years ago. Tron (TRX) peaked at $0.231 per coin on Jan. 5, 2018, around the same time as XRP. Today, however, TRX is down 43.8% to $0.13 per coin. Finally, avalanche (AVAX) has taken a steep 86% tumble from its peak of $144 per coin on Nov. 21, 2021, now trading at just $20.20.
