Decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols Cream Finance, and Binance Smart Chain (BSC) based PancakeSwap are reporting DNS (Domain Name System) “hijacks” of their respective platforms. Lending protocol Cream Finance tweeted on Monday,
“Our DNS has been compromised by a third party; some users are seeing requests for seed phrase on http://app.cream.finance. DO NOT enter your seed phrase. We will never ask you to submit any private key or seed phrases.”The attacker is asking the users for their 12-word seed phrase that is unique to each crypto wallet and must not be shared. Providing your seed phrase puts your funds at risk. The team further stated,
“This is unfortunately also happening at PancakeSwap - be careful out there and do not share your private keys nor seed phrase on any websites or chats.”https://twitter.com/cz_binance/status/1371473348866179072 DEX PancakeSwap has regained access to its DNS, and Cream Finance has declared http://cream.finance and http://app.cream.finance “compromised sites.” Users are advised not to use either of the domains. The project also managed to purchase and deploy to https://app.creamfinance.co in a short period which “is SAFE to use.” As a crypto-security reminder, “NEVER provide your seed phrase or private keys to any website!”
