The National Basketball Association (NBA) has reached an agreement to stream certain games in the metaverse for free. The firm extended its existing collaboration with Meta on January 23 to continue broadcasting its games utilizing VR (virtual reality) technology. Moreover, Meta’s consumer headgear, the Meta Quest 2, will be utilized to broadcast the games utilizing Xtadium, a metaverse app used to stream immersive sports events.

Horizon Worlds, Meta’s main metaverse app, will host 52 games for fans of the league to watch and enjoy. Of these, five will be shown in a more immersive 180-degree monoscopic mode. Because of this, the user may feel as if they are sitting courtside. Moreover, with their perspective shifting as the game progresses.

Banking on Metaverse

Additionally, NBA fans will be able to shop for officially licensed NBA gear at the Avatars Store on Meta. Mark is banking on the Metaverse and is willing to shell out billions. And this recent extension is a boost for the company and its vision for Metaverse.
