In the midst of very turbulent market circumstances, the Department of Justice (DOJ) of the United States of America is attempting to clamp down on cryptocurrency platforms.According to Eun Young Choi, the head of the tsar’s National Cryptocurrency Enforcement Team (NCET), the Department of Justice is attempting to investigate cryptocurrency exchanges that actively participated in or enabled unlawful acts like as money laundering, frauds, or theft.

Choi claims that some cryptocurrency exchanges have been problematic for the Department of Justice (DOJ) because they “allow for all the other criminal actors to easily profit from their crimes.” She said to the Financial Times (FT) that the agency is seeking to “have a multiplier effect” by conducting investigations into “those types of platforms.”

On the other hand, this is not the first step that the US regulator has made. According to Choi, the Department of Justice (DOJ) has been attempting to “send a deterrent message” following the failure of many prominent cryptocurrency companies, including FTX, Celsius, and Terra, among others.

According to a report published on May 6, the regulatory body is looking into allegations that the most prominent cryptocurrency exchange, Binance, violated Russian sanctions. Binance said that it did not break any international sanctions while drawing attention to the stringent anti-money laundering (AML) and know-your-customer (KYC) regulations it adheres to. This events come as crypto exchanges are now fleeing offshore wit Coinbase leading the way by launching an offshore derivatives exchange.

Charles Hoskinson: Democrats will fight crypto

Charles Hoskinson, one of the people responsible for developing the Cardano blockchain, has recently voiced his unhappiness with a document that has been circulating among members of the Democratic Committee. This paper outlines the members’ perspective on cryptocurrency legislation, and Hoskinson has voiced his disapproval of this attitude.

Hoskinson, who has made substantial contributions to the blockchain industry, has criticised the message and asked voters to make blockchain technology their exclusive focus in the forthcoming elections. Hoskinson tweeted over the weekend that the best way to put an end to the “madness” in government is to make the topic of cryptocurrency legislation a central issue in the next election. He encouraged crypto enthusiasts to cast their ballots for candidates who are in favor of legislation favorable to cryptocurrency.
