Casper, a blockchain network for decentralized applications, and Sarson Funds, an investment company focused on digital assets, announced a major upgrade of the csprUSD stablecoin. After the update, it will become the standard dollar-pegged stablecoin in the Casper ecosystem and support payments between AI agents through the x402 protocol.

The launch follows the creation of the x402 Foundation under the Linux Foundation, which brings together companies including Visa, Mastercard, Google, Coinbase, Circle, Stripe, AWS, and Cloudflare. The protocol is designed to let AI agents make automatic online payments directly through standard HTTP requests without relying on traditional payment methods.

The updated csprUSD will be fully compatible with Casper 2.0 and will support the CEP-3009 token standard. This allows users or AI agents to sign payment authorizations off-chain, while transactions are completed on-chain. The project will also integrate Casper’s ProofLayer infrastructure, which creates cryptographic proof for off-chain data. It will be used to verify the stablecoin’s U.S. dollar reserves, token issuance, and redemptions.

Before the Mainnet launch, the new smart contract will undergo an additional security audit. Casper also recently reduced its minimum transaction fee from 2.5 CSPR to 0.1 CSPR after the approval of CEP-97.
