eBay (NASDAQ: EBAY) is now exploring how it could use Blockchain technology to facilitate transactions on your platform.
eBay is talking to several companies that seek to issue digital tokens, which could help the company integrate cryptographic payments more efficiently than ever before.
There has already been a foray into cryptocurrency by eBay, which attempted to accept Bitcoin in 2014.
As part of your more extensive plans for the future, eBay is considering giving users the ability to make payments and receive items with digital coins through a web browser.
That would allow users to make transactions in virtual currency without downloading an application or using specialized hardware.
In a recent interview, eBay CEO Jamie Iannone said that the company is “analyzing cryptomonads payments.”
eBay already accepts PayPal and credit cards in terms of your current payment options.
The company is also exploring other forms of payment, such as Apple Pay and Google. In addition to these traditional methods, the CEO mentioned that eBay could also examine the possibility of crypto payments. Bitcoin and Ethereum are on the top of the list as a form of crypto payment.
That would be the first time for the company, which has not yet adopted any form of cryptomonad. It is uncertain whether or not eBay will adopt cryptomonads payments, but the announcement is expected to be done on March 10 (The day dedicated to the investor).
CEO Jamie Iannone believes the most critical customer base for his platform is Millennials and Gen Zis. He cites eBay’s efforts to attract today’s and tomorrow’s customers as an example. The sale of shoes is one of eBay’s fastest-growing markets, and the site is focusing its efforts there.
