The popular internet browser is betting on cryptocurrencies with their latest product. Besides including a built-in Ethereum wallet, it will also give support to Web 3.0 services and access to dApps.

Opera for Android will be accessing the Ethereum blockchain through Infura, a suit of API  and developer tools allowing a gateway to Ethereum and to the InterPlanetary File System.

The company launched their first browser back in 1995, and have been keeping up with the pace of innovation since then. With their latest launch, Opera will be giving support to all Ethereum and ERC20 based tokens, although users of Bitcoin and other altcoins will still require a different solution.

Joseph Lubin, Ethereum co-founder and founder of venture studio ConsenSys, welcomed the new software, according to a post on Opera´s Medium:

'It’s a significant step for one of the world’s leading browsers to add an Ethereum-based crypto wallet and Dapp explorer, and speaks to Opera’s innovative roots and commitment to embracing next generation technology. We see this as an important moment in improving Dapp accessibility, opening Web3 to mainstream audiences, and encouraging developers to build on Ethereum'.

Opera´s latest launch might stimulate the dApp market, allowing users to browse through them in the Ethereum network. The extra traffic seems to be a much needed change, judging from past reports about the low usage of dApps.
