Vitalik Buterin shared the long-term architecture that will transform Ethereum into a faster, more private, and easily verifiable “cryptographic world computer.”

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has outlined the comprehensive transformation the network plans to undergo by 2030. According to Buterin, the Ethereum of the future will not be simply a classic blockchain where transactions are queued; it will evolve into a hybrid architecture combining blockchain, modern cryptography, and decentralized off-chain computing systems.

At the heart of the plan is the verification of results with short cryptographic proofs, rather than each network participant re-performing the same calculations. This approach aims to increase network capacity and allow users to independently verify results with lower hardware requirements.

Buterin’s draft emphasizes zero-knowledge proofs, multi-participant block generation, simplified proof-of-stake consensus, formal verification, and resilience against quantum computers. It also aims to strengthen privacy in payment and wallet usage.

The Hegotá update, planned for next year, is said to be the last “normal” fork of Ethereum built on its current technological foundation. In the period that follows, the network’s core narrative will revolve around cryptographic proof, scalability, and privacy.
