Tokyo-listed Metaplanet plans to acquire Siiibo Securities, a regulated online securities platform focused on corporate bond issuance and investment, for ¥2.1 billion, or approximately $13 million, and then rename the business Metaplanet Securities, according to a Friday statement.
The transaction is expected to close in August 2026 and forms part of the company’s Project NOVA initiative to build a comprehensive Bitcoin-focused financial ecosystem.
Metaplanet currently holds 40,177 BTC, valued at over $2.5 billion at current market prices. This places the firm as the third largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, only behind Strategy and Twenty One Capital. It is also the only non-US company ranked among the top 10 corporate Bitcoin holders.
Metaplanet plans to unlock Japan’s vast ¥1,190 quadrillion ($7.4 trillion) household savings market currently stuck in low-yield assets by offering Bitcoin-powered yield products.
The acquisition of Siiibo Securities serves as the critical infrastructure step to enable origination, distribution, and management of these products, advancing the company’s long-term goal of becoming a complete Bitcoin-native financial platform fueled by a compounding cycle of Bitcoin accumulation and reinvestment.
