XLM lags as Stellar’s builder count jumps 86% – What’s missing?

Stellar [$XLM] is slowly shifting from a narrative-led project into one backed by measurable ecosystem growth. According to the Stellar Foundation’s Q1 report, the network ranked among the fastest-growing developer ecosystems.

The number of builders climbed 86% year-over-year to more than 4,400 during Q1 alone.

Over the last three years, that figure expanded by 171%. That growth suggested sustained developer interest instead of short-term experimentation.

Developer activity often acts as an early signal of long-term network strength. More builders can eventually lead to stronger applications, deeper liquidity and broader utility across the ecosystem.

Still, those improvements do not always translate into immediate price appreciation.

Why is Stellar’s ecosystem growing?

Capital inflows have started aligning with developer activity. According to DeFiLlama data, Stellar’s Total Value Locked (TVL) rose from under $10 million in early 2024 to nearly $190 million at press time.

The network previously peaked near $206 million on the 23rd of April.

That steady rise suggested capital remained inside the ecosystem instead of moving through short-lived speculation cycles.

The pace of growth also stood out. Rather than brief liquidity spikes, Stellar appeared to sustain gradual adoption tied to payments, tokenization and cross-border settlement activity.

In simple terms, usage growth started supporting the broader ecosystem narrative.

Why is the $XLM price still lagging?

Even so, price action continued showing hesitation.

$XLM recently broke above a flag consolidation structure, which hinted at an improving market structure. However, the token still traded below key EMA levels at press time.

That mattered because EMA levels often acted as dynamic resistance during recovery phases.

So while the broader structure attempted to shift bullish, momentum had not fully confirmed the breakout yet.

That disconnect left $XLM caught between improving fundamentals and cautious market positioning.

Can fundamentals eventually lift $XLM?

This divergence is not unusual in crypto markets.

Fundamentals often strengthen long before price fully reacts, especially after prolonged consolidation periods. Right now, Stellar’s ecosystem metrics continue to improve across multiple fronts.

Developer growth accelerated, TVL expanded steadily and broader holder sentiment appeared healthier.

However, the price still needed to reclaim major EMA levels before bulls could confirm a stronger momentum shift.

Until then, Stellar [$XLM] remained in a transition phase where ecosystem growth looked increasingly solid, but technical confirmation still lagged behind.
