Russia sees the first government documents exchange via blockchain
According to the Russian media, the Federal Antimonopoly Service and the Russian Sberbank have successfully conducted an electronic document exchange operation on the blockchain. This operation was the first state-level blockchain implementation in Russia, reporters note.
Sberbank headed by German Gref was among the first institutions in Russia which started to talk about the blockchain as a technology that undoubtedly needs to be implemented in business processes and state governing structures. According to the reports from RBC, it was German Gref who told the President of Russia about the advantages of the blockchain and latest fintech achievements.
The high management of the Federal Antimonopoly Service are also supporting the wide use of blockchain in state structure, and its Deputy Head once even told: “It’s bitcoin and blockchain [era] out there, and we still have to process requests on paper!” This is why there is no surprise that these two organizations have become the leaders in this sector.
Other notable blockchain project in Russia include Active Citizen, a state-run electronic platform for Muscovites’ voting on urban issues in the Russian capital, and it exists already for a few years, but now the vote results are proposed to protect with the blockchain.
