Japanese firm introduces Bitcoin energy payments, massive bank promises to issue brand cryptocurrency

04 October 2017 21:00, UTC

Interesting news coming from Japan, the country with one of the most liberal approaches towards cryptocurrency. Corporate initiatives in this country in the fintech sphere are mostly supported by the government, so the market is actively developing.

The Japanese energy company called Remixpoint has launched a new energy service with Bitcoin as an accepted way of payments. Those who chose this method will have a discount. The company has created a subsidiary to process Bitcoin payments, Bitpoint, which has already been accepted as a legal business by the state regulative authority, Financial Services Agency (FSA).

Meanwhile, the President of one of the largest banks in the country told in his speech that his bank plans to issue its brand cryptocurrency. The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi (MUFG) leader even claimed that their currency will be a lot better than Bitcoin. As one might remember, the investor who served as a prototype for “The Wolf of the Wall Street” main character recommended to wait for the emergence of bank-issued digital currencies and only then think about investing in this market. Looks like the wait is going to end soon. And time will show if Nobuyuki Hirano is right about MUFG’s project potential.
