IBM works with central banks to issue a new Stellar-based cryptocurrency

25 March 2018 21:00, UTC

Thanks to the Reddit ‘Ask Me Anything’ interview with the regular Web users the public is now informed about an initiative IBM is currently establishing. As told by Jesse Lund who heads blockchain solutions for financial services division in IBM, Lumens tokens and the corresponding blockchain have been used as part of an international payment project.

What makes this project even more interesting is that some central banks have agreed to engage with IBM on this matter. They will be able to form their own digital assets thanks to IBM’s technological innovations, Jesse Lund notes.

This once again demonstrates the interest of IBM in blockchain technologies. In other news, the same company has told about the crypto-anchor - a special little gadget attachable to goods and packages and able to work as part of a blockchain supply tracking service.

At the press time, there are no universally recognized bank-issued digital currencies, although there are many discussions and articles regarding this topic. Bitcoin may jump up in price after the introduction of such a currency for a short period of time.
