According to a report published by the McKinsey Global Institute (which is an economic research “think tank” at McKinsey & Company), the use of artificial intelligence will boost EU GDP by 19% by 2030. In monetary terms, this means an estimated increase of 2 trillion 700 billion euros. In Italy, the growth will be respectively 13% of GDP and, in monetary terms, 228 billion euros.

According to experts, the talks are about the upcoming fourth industrial revolution — the revolution of data, knowledge and intelligence, designed to create services tailored to the standard for each individual consumer. The researchers at McKinsey & Company state that Europe has enormous human potential — the R&D corps is much larger than in the United States or China.

The number of software developers in the EU over the past two years has grown at a rate of 4-5% per year, reaching 5.7 million people, while in the US there are 4.4 million people only.

According to McKinsey & Company estimates, out of 16 “lighthouse enterprises” related to the fourth industrial revolution, the majority is located in Europe. One of them, Rold, is located in Cerro Maggiore, in the province of Milan.

There is one representative step and the most striking example of cooperation, speaking about joining efforts in the field of artificial intelligence development. This is the unity of telecommunication and automobile companies in order to create the European Automotive Telecom Alliance, a consortium aimed at maximizing the closeness of Internet connection and automation.
