14 January 2018 21:00, UTC

The latest messages coming from India tell that the state of Karnataka in the country’ south-west is going to host an event dedicated to the blockchain for governmental needs. The event will be held at Koramangala Indoor Stadium and will last from 19th to 21st of January. The blockchain technology could be used in many various spheres, as the official governmental statement tells, and new blockchain projects introduced at this hackathon are undoubtedly going to help to optimize the government, should it decide to implement them.

In particular, the event organizers are interested in agricultural blockchain, taxation blockchain and even forestry blockchain. Both startups and programmer teams can take part. The winners of this competition will be invited to the governmental summit which will be held on February 16.

It is worth noting here that the authorities of India are suspicious towards Bitcoin, and one of the high-ranking officials in this country even demands strict regulation, if not prohibition. The government, however, is not going to ignore the blockchain optimization of its internal processes. The same issue is currently reviewed by the United States authorities, for instance, the recent initiative of the American official is designed to protect elections and the government data from hack attacks with the help of the blockchain.
