Vitalik Buterin: let’s limit Ethereum supply
Vitalik Buterin, Canadian with Russian origins and creator of the second most capitalized cryptocurrency Ethereum, has recently described another major change he views beneficial for the future of this altcoin. In his proposal, the supply of 120,204,432 tokens is mentioned. This number doubles the quantity of tokens of the 2014 sale, the fact which Buterin directly confirms.
The code developer thinks that the best time for this new measure would be the introduction of Casper, a new structural enhancement Bitnewstoday has already described in a separate report.
The limitation of the token supply in the network of Ethereum might increase the value of the digital asset in the long term. Some observers told that Bitcoin would be very valuable in the future due to this exact reason - there’s only 21M Bitcoins. At the press time, Ethereum is unlimited.
This is not the first proposal by Vitalik Buterin. Recently he has outlined the new fee for the use of Ethereum blockchain. This fee will prevent overloads similar to the one witnessed during the CryptoKitties craze.
Note that the date of the proposal is April 1 - April Fools’ Day, but it seems serious and reasonable.
