VISA CEO Alfred Kelly: we will not work with Bitcoin directly
In his recent interview to CNBC, Chief Executive of VISA Alfred Kelly explicitly mentioned Bitcoin and told his company is not going to work with this most mainstream cryptocurrency in the future.
He also told that the theoretical possibility of using Bitcoin (or its blockchain) in payment systems as a layer is too unrealistic because as he thinks, Bitcoin is not a payment system. And due to this fact, he considers Bitcoin to be more like a commodity, and a speculative one.
Bitnewstoday previously compared the amount of daily money circulating through the network of Bitcoin and VISA payment system. It appears that the during 24 hours, the blockchain of Bitcoin operates with payments totalling to the budget of a big Hollywood movie, while during the same 24 hours, VISA manages to work with the money equal to the yearly budget of NASA. The conclusion is based on the numbers provided by the recent Morgan Stanley report, which yesterday stated that while it will clear Bitcoin futures, it still will not operate with Bitcoin directly.
Meanwhile, other corporate leaders and market players still make much harsher statements about Bitcoin. For example, Nataliya Kasperskaya, who co-founded Kaspersky Lab with Evgeniy Kaspersky, thinks that Bitcoin is a bait invented by American intelligence agencies to catch and blackmail businessmen. Notably, Igor Ashmanov, entrepreneur with close ties to Kasperskaya, currently defends none other than Alexander Vinnik, alleged BTC-e leader and criminal (read our older reports to find out more).
