On May 23, the telecom giant AT&T announced that customers can now pay their bills via BitPay. The company became the first major telecom operator in the United States which accepts BTC and BCH payments.

AT&T’s customer base is huge and the firm takes 9th place in the U.S. Fortune 500 rankings based on total revenue. The company has partnered with Bitpay to let users pay for the services with cryptocurrencies. Customers can use the AT&T online platform and their accounts to select Bitpay as an option to pay their bills. The vice president of AT&T’s communications finance business operations, Kevin McDORMAN, commented on news:
“We’re always looking for ways to improve and expand our services. We have customers who use cryptocurrency, and we are happy we can offer them a way to pay their bills with the method they prefer.”
So far, this option is not available in AT&T stores, and cryptocurrency cannot be used to purchase mobile devices or products. The partnership with BitPay is currently limited only to paying bills of telecom company.
