SWAT comes to SegWit2x opponent
The SegWit2x debates took an unexpected turn of events when Jameson Lopp, a BitGo engineer, had a visit of many “SWAT cops with rifles”, he told they have received info about hostage situation in his residence. On his Twitter, Jameson Lopp suggests this fake warning call was made because of his strict and bitter position towards SegWit2x and its supporters. “I am not so easily intimidated,” states Mr. Lopp.
Not so long ago, he and the executive of Bitcoin Foundation were criticizing SegWit2x in social media together and came to conclusion that the intention of supporters of this protocol update is to make blocks in the blockchain bigger, which is beneficial not for the big Bitcoin community, but for corporations.
Meanwhile, another conflict in cryptocurrency community: Roger Ver, the owner of Bitcoin.com that has recently entered Bitcoin.org’s blacklist (try not to get confused about the difference between these two!), has written a post dedicated to SegWit2x. A particular scheme has caused a wave of anger from Bitcoin supporters, as the Bitcoin Cash blockchain is viewed there as the main chain, and what is considered today to be the Bitcoin chain is named “SegWit Chain”. “Worst piece of BCH propaganda I’ve read so far,” Twitter users tell. However, Bitcoin Cash has increased in value after this scheme was posted — classic verbal market intervention.
