Raiden undergoes testing
Raiden, the scalability solution for the Ethereum protocol, has been activated in a special testing environment for Ethereum updates, ETHNews reports.
The media tells that this solution will solve the scalability issues the Ethereum network is facing right now, improve transaction speed and lower the transfer fees.
The development team considers the scalability issue to be one of the most actual threats to the future of Ethereum. The growing amount of transactions slowly overloads the system. New tokens issued in compliance with the ERC-20 standard are making the network traffic unproportioned, especially during large ICOs.
Raiden will allow more than a million of transactions per second without any overloads, the developers promise. They started to develop this solution two years ago.
Raiden was mentioned by Vitalik Buterin in his interview to the Web users on The Next Web portal. He called it a “layer-2 network on top of Ethereum” and told back then that as long as this project is developed by a separate team, he cannot specify the exact release date.
The solution for Bitcoin that solves the same issues is called Lightning Network, it will ensure the speed of transactions and additionally stabilize the network integrity.
