Playboy to issue its own token
Yesterday it became known about another company that predates cryptocurrency planning to issue its own digital means of payment. Playboy TV, a video platform of the big and famous enterprise, will issue VIT - Vice Industry Token. The video network will also introduce an option to pay with classic cryptocurrencies - Bitcoin and Ethereum.
The fact that both Bitcoin and Ethereum are currently falling down does not stop the company. Clearly, the management does not consider the latest market decline an obstacle. In some cases, trade platforms were seen disabling Bitcoin payments due to drastic price changes and volatility.
Like in the case with KODAK, this could be just a try to play on the market hype and promote the company, although Business Insider notes that Playboy was always among the first big corporations to try out new technologies, for instance, virtual reality.
As additionally noted by the press, probably for the first time in history a big television company works with digital currency payments and even issues its own crypto-related payment tool. Thanks to the already published white paper, we know the exact blockchain VIT will be based upon: a fork of Steem protocol. One would expect that Steem coin would grow amidst this news - it didn’t, losing 25% in 24 hours instead.
