Move over, CME: CBOE announces Bitcoin futures trades launch
According to the official website of the Chicago Board Options Exchange, they plan to launch Bitcoin futures trading relatively soon, at 5:00 p.m. CT on Sunday, December 10, 2017. This is going to greatly benefit the company, as every big mass media outlet is going to mention them in connection with this event, and quite possibly, it’s this company that is going to win the corporate race of Bitcoin futures developers.
Previously, CME Group and at least two Swiss companies voiced their intentions to enable futures connected with the price of Bitcoin, but since then, it seems, the Swiss decided to take a steady development approach, and CME Group’s launch date is surrounded with uncertainty. Moscow Stock Exchange, according to the local Russian reports, wanted to follow the popular trend as well, but received a warning from the Central Bank of the country to pause all plans until the state legislation on cryptocurrency has come to its completion.
The futures developed by CBOE will be identified by XBT abbreviation, and contracts will be based on Bitcoin’s price on the Gemini exchange, CBOE’s website clarifies.
