Monero hard-fork will happen sooner due to hashrate growth
The Monero developers previously announced the new fork would happen in 21 September 2017, but after recent meeting the dev team told on Reddit that the HF can happen even sooner. The meeting itself was focused on block number adjustments to prevent a fork happening too soon. Looks like the team agreed there is nothing really dangerous in the premature hard-fork.
Hashrate, being the primary reason why the hard-fork date changed, can be described as a speed of computations. Its increase leads to miners producing more blocks and the whole cryptocurrency blockchain evolves faster.
The future hard-fork of Monero will include even more means of anonymity, although the cryptocurrency is already known for its existing privacy features. This update will include the mandatory RingCTs, or ring confidential transactions, although this measure is already used by many Monero enthusiasts. It efficiently hides the parties of transactions in a sophisticated web, so that the 3rd party can’t figure out who is transferring money to whom.
