Litecoin Releases Long-Awaited Mimblewimble Update
Litecoin has finally released the Mimblewimble update after two years of development. The launch of Mimblewimble brings more privacy-focused transactions to the Litecoin network. Mimblewimble has been integrated into Litecoin through the Mimblewimble Extension Block, also known as MWEB. MWEB allows network users to choose confidential transactions.
According to lead developer David BURKETT, the Mimblewimble update greatly improves Litecoin and its use as a fungible currency. The upgrade will allow LTC to be used as a currency that can be used for everyday transactions, pay salaries, or even expensive transactions such as purchasing real estate.
Mimblewimble focuses on scalability and fungibility beyond anonymity and private transactions. According to the Litecoin team, scalability and fungibility are important features that blockchains lack. The Litecoin team also believes that Mimblewimble will significantly elevate LTC's status as "sound money".
