Large mining pools signal SegWit support
According to Forklog.com, three largest mining pools, Antpool, Bitcoin.com and BTC.com, began to produce blocks with Segwit support. It is even more unexpected because earlier these pools had been totally against Segwit activation supporting the alternative Bitcoin Unlimited protocol and after that they voted for Segwit2x solution.
According to Coin.dance statistics, a few hours before the publication, these pools were mining blocks without Segwit support.
Segwit activation is the second stage of BIP 91 support, which was activated by most of miners on the night of July 21. In order to make Segwit operative, the support of at least 95 percent of miners is required. In case of Segwit activation there will be no Bitcoin split expected on August 1, 2017.
Representatives of these three pools have not provided any official comments. Antpool belongs to Chinese company Bitmain Technologies, and the Bitcoin.com owner is Roger Ver.
