Jamie Dimon repents of calling Bitcoin a fraud
The head of JPMorgan Chase called Bitcoin a fraud and told it’s worse than a tulip bubble during the Dutch Golden Age. This happened in 2017, when Bitcoin’s price was around $4000. Since then, not only Bitcoin has grown to $14,000, but Jamie Dimon’s views also changed a little: reports suggest he now regrets calling Bitcoin a fraud, but cryptocurrencies have not become less uninteresting to him:
“The bitcoin to me was always what the governments are gonna feel about bitcoin as it gets really big, and I just have a different opinion than other people. I'm not interested that much in the subject at all.”
This statement has been made during the interview on one of the major American television channels, and apart from this issue, he talked on taxation and the latest reform impact. Not unlike other traditional market figures, Mr. Dimon believes that the blockchain is much more prospective than Bitcoin, and when it comes to ICOs, this JPMorgan Chase top manager tells each project has to be analyzed individually.
Jamie Dimon’s view on ICOs was less noticed by the media, but it might be the first time he ever spoke on this issue separately.
