ICON Introduces Next Generation Blockchain

ICON has announced plans to develop a powerful next generation blockchain software architecture ICON 2.0. This is a radical update to the current ICON platform. Unlike most updates, ICON 2.0 is not expected to require a bridge or token exchange and will provide best functionality.

ICON 2.0 uses an improved blockchain engine written in Golang to provide better blockchain interoperability. The result will be great speed, stability and scalability. The platform will also launch with interoperability features to support and power cross-chain DeFi solutions, driving the next wave of cryptocurrency adoption and blockchain use cases.

At launch, ICON Foundation will deploy all required smart contracts on high-profile blockchains and launch relays. ICON 2.0 is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2021.
