Google to further develop its own blockchain
Alphabet Inc., Google’s parent company, is developing its own version of a distributed ledger connected with transactions - more information is currently unavailable. Anyway, judging by the resources the company possesses, any blockchain software they might invent can easily become implemented and promote the technology itself.
Google is already researching blockchain in connection to cloud technologies. Cloud was very popular in the late 2000s as a new trend, this technology allows Internet access to the data from different devices. Cloud storage and cloud computing combined with blockchain is one of the perspective innovations which are very likely now being researched by Oracle - another major IT company which has shown interest both to blockchain and cloud in the past.
As reported last year, Google’s API allows digital currency payment implementation in the future. Code bits which hint at this future opportunity have been discovered by independent programmers. Google has not announced anything cryptocurrency-related yet, so this content might never even be used or it will be used in the far future.
Currently, major corporate blockchain projects are still at early stages. We have yet to see these projects actually implemented and rivaling each other.
