Last week, European lawmakers successfully voted against a proposed ban on Proof-of-Work (PoW) cryptocurrencies. But under regional law, the proposal could be revived this week for a second round of voting.

In particular, parties that have sought to introduce a ban on PoW can challenge its repeal and initiate a second vote on the ban if they have at least one tenth of the members of the European Parliament on their side, explained in a tweet the EU MP in charge of the MiCA legislative framework, Stefan BERGER.

The parties have until Wednesday, March 23 to veto the proposal, and if they do, the PoW ban will have to be voted on again during the next plenary session of the EU Parliament in April. According to Patrick HANSEN, head of growth and strategy at DeFi startup Unstoppable Finance, the parties in favor of the PoW ban already have the required votes. Now the question is whether they are willing to veto the MiCA bill.
