Ethereum Name Service Fired Core Team Member Brantly Millegan
The vote to remove Brantly MILLEGAN from ENS DAO took place on Sunday after a 2016 tweet surfaced. In the tweet, Millegan called homosexuals evil, denied the existence of transgenderism, and called contraceptives a perversion. In the message, Millegan stated that he is a Catholic and believes in the basic, traditional, Christian values that the world's largest religion adheres to.
The episode sparked a strong reaction on social media over the weekend. Many observers, including Uniswap Labs CEO Hayden ADAMS, have said that Millegan's views are contrary to the ethical tenets of DeFi and Web3. ENS expressed a similar sentiment on their blog. The ENS message said that Millegan could face further disciplinary action, including his immediate suspension.
The removal of the director of the ENS community was carried out by voting using the DAO. The majority of community members voted to remove Millegan from his post, 75% of those who voted supported the proposal.
