David Beckham Is The Latest Sports Icon To Enter Metaverse And NFT

David BECKHAM has been selected as the global brand ambassador for blockchain platform DigitalBits. Beckham will release a series of NFTs and other digital assets based on the DigitalBits blockchain. According to Beckham, the NFT collections are an opportunity to create new experiences for fans online. According to DigitalBits, Beckham has more than 138 mln followers and an annual view rate of over nine billion on Instagram, Facebook, and Chinese social media platforms Weibo and Douyin.

DigitalBits is a layer 1 blockchain designed to support consumer digital assets, in particular branded currencies. This includes assets such as loyalty points and rewards, gift cards, and in particular the growing asset category of branded stablecoins.

It's also worth noting that David Beckham isn't the only sports star associated with cryptocurrencies. Earlier, Japanese professional tennis player Naomi OSAKA became the ambassador of the FTX cryptocurrency exchange. As part of the agreement, Osaka will reportedly receive a stake in FTX.
