Credit Suisse: with blockchain, we’re able to work “in a matter of minutes”
In his recent interview with CNBC, James Disney, head of software investment banking, told the reporter that his co-workers are very interested in the blockchain and have already conducted interesting experiments, the results of which will dramatically increase the speed of their accounting and transactions.
And it’s not like Credit Suisse just want their employees to work more comfortably - "If you add up all of our volume over the quarter, that's hundreds of billions of dollars we're able to free up and take out of the system to use for other purposes," explained Mr. Disney. He also views Bitcoin as a “killer app” for the blockchain era, just as email was a “killer app” at the dawn of the Internet. Good to know he doesn’t share Jamie Dimon’s conservatism, as Credit Suisse is one of the most influential banks in the world and one of the trend setters for other banks.
This interview has clarified the motivation of bankers’ rush for the blockchain (if it was not obvious before) – optimizing something always means saving more money.
