Blockchain and turkeys: the digital Thanksgiving
Blockchain in food supply is a regularly appearing theme in the fintech-related media. The main advantages of this application are: tracking, quality control and the full picture of the supply chain. In fact, this solution is potentially so beneficial that IBM, Nestle, Walmart and other companies are currently either cooperating on this topic or racing each other.
To test the technology, Cargill found an unspecified open-source blockchain platform and successfully managed to use it so that clients now know the farm the turkey comes from the tag on this bird. While the company admits this is not a very big project indeed, it will help them to establish something much bigger in the future. And, by the way, if blockchain enthusiasts really want to see the technology implemented everywhere, they should definitely support small-scale projects like this one.
Happy Thanksgiving, American readers!
