Bitcoin Price (BTC) Surpassed The $18,000 Mark

On Tuesday, the most popular cryptocurrency surpassed the $17,000 level for the first time since January 2018 and surged above $17,700 in a few hours. In addition, it took just a week for the BTC price to rise from $15,000 to $16,000, and five days to reach the $17,000 level.

At the time of writing, BTC is trading at $18,049. Over the past day, Bitcoin has grown by 78% and by 16% over the week. The price also rose by almost 53% in a month and by 106% in a year. The bitcoin market capitalization has reached almost $334 bln. Among the top 10 coins, the growth of Litecoin can also be highlighted, which returned to the 6th place in the ranking.

According to Anthony POMPLIANO, at the moment, the market cap metric is much more important than the price of a single bitcoin, as it gives a better idea of where the market is over time.
