Bitcoin alert system revival may confuse copycat altcoins’ community
The system of Bitcoin public announcements will soon be functional again, CoinDesk tells. As a reminder, this system which has been design to warn users of potential dangers to possessions and future updates has been disabled in 2016 (update 0.13.10).
However, the old versions of Bitcoin protocol are sometimes used for making new altcoins which strikingly resemble the cryptocurrency made by Satoshi Nakamoto. If the messages in the media are true, now that the alert system is returning, altcoin users can receive messages about Bitcoin which will undoubtedly confuse them at first. As a matter of fact, Charlie Lee, Litecoin creator, recalls a similar event connected to Feathercoin:
I still remember when someone replayed the Litecoin alert to the Feathercoin network. Every Feathercoin user was asked to upgrade to the latest Litecoin client.

The alert key for Bitcoin has been posted online by Bryan Bishop from LedgerX which contradicts an old theory that only Satoshi Nakamoto, Gavin Andresen (coder currently developing Bitcoin Cash) and the administrator of BitcoinTalk forum had it.
Interestingly, Gavin Andresen and Satoshi Nakamoto have already been together in other news. The stylometry analysis of old Satoshi’s posts and of the famous Bitcoin whitepaper in comparison to GitHub posts of Gavin Andresen has shown quite peculiar similarity.
