Binance Coin (BNB) is a native cryptocurrency of the Binance platform. It was originally issued as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum in 2017, just before the crypto exchange itself was launched. Later, in April 2019, a token swap occurred, BNB switched to the Binance Chain mainnet, the company's own blockchain. It is impossible to mine BNB, the blockchain uses the BFT consensus mechanism — it is served by validators.
