Tinder Swindler, the man accused of duping women on dating apps for over $10 million has denied all scam allegations against him, saying his lavish lifestyle was the result of him investing in Bitcoin (BTC).
Tinder Swindler Bought Bitcoin at 2011
In an interview with the Inside Edition, Simon Leviev, whose real name is Shimon Hayut who is portrayed as the Tinder Swindler, has denied all the fraud accusations against him while claiming to be a 'legit businessman.' He says his wealth is a result of early investment in Bitcoin in 2011. At that time, BTC was priced at about $30 per token during its 2011 peak and $1 at its lowest point of the year.
“I’m a legit businessman. I bought bitcoin in 2011, which [was then worth] nothing. I don’t need to say how much it’s worth now,” Leviev said.
In his interview, Leviev declined to reveal what his bitcoin holdings are worth now but said that the proceeds have been the way for funding his lifestyle.
“I’m not a fraud and I’m not a fake … People don’t know me so they cannot judge me. I’m the biggest gentleman in the world,” Leviev added.
Conning Women for Millions of Dollars
Netflix documentary 'Tinder Swindler' alleges that Leviev posed as a 'wealthy, jet-setting diamond mogul,’ who then ‘wooed women online then conned them out of millions of dollars.’ The women from the documentary say they are still in debt from all the money they lent Leviev and have since set up a GoFundMe campaign in an effort to pay off these loans, raising over $200,000 so far.
