A security company found EOS vulnerability recently, claiming real attack has taken place.

A Chinese security company, SlowMist Technology Co. Ltd. just posted on Medium their finding of an EOS vulnerability attack, claiming that it has occurred.

The vulnerability, the “false top-up” has a huge potential to take place if crypto exchanges, wallet and other platforms have breach in the way they judge whether EOS deposit transaction succeed.

“An attacker can successfully deposit EOS to these platforms without transferring any EOS,” the announcement wrote.

Furthermore, the SlowMist team claimed that real attack has occurred, with details to be provided soon. According to the team, the attack is similar to the USDT false top-up and the Ethereum token false top-up.

The team suggests crypto exchanges, wallets as well as other platforms that are not fully confident with their deposit process verification to suspend their EOS deposit ASAP and double check the process as it’s a new type of attack.

As of writing time, OKEx is the only crypto exchanges that confirm its platform’s safety from the EOS attack.

“We are aware of the vulnerability with $EOS deposit. And we confirm that OKEx is NOT exposed to the vulnerability,” OKEx team tweeted.
