Crypto.com and Lega Serie A tie to launch NFTs for the 2021 Coppa Italia | Invezz

Lega Serie A, an Italian football league, has joined hands with Crypto.com in what is a first for the soccer industry. The crypto platform unveiled this news through a blog post on May 6, noting that this partnership will see it become the official crypto and NFT sponsor in the upcoming 2021 Coppa Italia Final where Atalanta will play against Juventus.

According to the blog post, Crypto.com will help Lega Serie A release a collection of NFTs to celebrate the event, which will be held at the Mapei Stadium in Reggio Emilia on May 19. Reportedly, the NFT collection will comprise digital representations of the official trophy and match highlights, among other items. The NFTs will be available exclusively on Crypto.com/NFT.

Through this joint venture, both parties seek to offer football fans in Italy and across the globe new experiences. Per the publication, the collaboration between Crypto.com and Lega Serie A is set to extend beyond the Coppa Italia Final.

Commenting on this ground-breaking move, Lega Serie A’s CEO, Luigi De Siervo said the league is elated to join hands with Crypto.com. He went on to tout Liga Serie A’s pioneering capabilities, noting that it is the first football league in the world to sign a deal with a firm in the crypto industry.

A mutually-beneficial agreement

Siervo added that this partnership will help the league reach out to a larger audience, thus underpinning the ongoing efforts to make the brand grow internationally. He added that this year’s Coppa Italia Final would help show that Lega Serie A focuses on the future and innovation. According to him, the event will offer global fans an exciting experience before the game starts, on the pitch, and after the game ends.

Crypto.com, which boasts a rapidly growing app and more than 10 million users across the globe, is also set to benefit significantly from this collaboration, seeing as it’s set to get more exposure.
