2021’s much-awaited fourth instalment of the American monster verse series, Godzilla vs Kong, was a massive success with a box office collection of $132.7 million. But what enticed an even more comprehensive range of viewers is its exclusive line-up of non-fungible tokens (NFTs), minted only 10. Even Elon Musk, a man who needs no introduction, is vibing to the “Most insane movie” he’s ever watched.

“Glowing Godzilla 3D Figures”: a fan’s feast

The first fully immersive, blockchain-driven VR entertainment platform, Terra Virtua, has taken it upon itself to release incredible Godzilla NFT collectables to commemorate Adam Wingard’s booming sequel fanfare. And based on its tweet posted on April 13, collectors must hurry since out of the ten minted, only 4 of those “glowing Godzilla 3D figures” remain. A day prior, it summoned the fans to “experience the spine chilling roar of Godzilla’s nuclear rage.”

Terra Virtua: unlike any other marketplace

Terra Virtua is a blockchain-based, NFT-focused marketplace, that besides minting its own NFTs and offering opportunity for its users to work with major brand owners to create and sell digital collectables, also provides augmented reality apps as “exhibition” spaces, including The Fan cave, The Terradome, and the Art Gallery, to show them off after purchase.

Like so many other start-ups, Terra Virtua started in a Starbucks. Jawad Ashraf, Founder and CTO, inspired by blockchain and the permanent ownership of digital assets, first shared his idea with co-founder and CEO Gary Bracey.

Jawad was well-versed in disruptive technologies, while Gary had an extensive track record in licensing properties from Hollywood and beyond. Combined, they saw VR as the key to the next step of interactivity and wanted to take this idea mainstream. Starting with VR-focused NFT, they gradually brought the business to the summit it is at today.

Undisturbed Momentum Gain

In September 2020, long before the ‘NFT mania’ took over the market, Terra Virtua raised over $2.5 million in a massively oversubscribed funding round. And since then, it has become the best, genuinely immersive digital collectables platform.
